Our Mission
We believe the place where you truly recover should be where you live — not somewhere you need a reservation.
Our mission is to handcraft barrel saunas in 100% Canadian western red cedar built to last a generation. The material grown in this climate, shaped for it, needing no coatings that age beautifully for 20 years or more. Saunas with no middlemen, no cross-border deliveries, no two-month wait — designed for your space, installed in 1 to 3 weeks.
We communicate directly, in French, English, and Ukrainian — because trust is built person to person, not through a call center.
«Everyone deserves a place to slow down, reconnect, and feel at home. That's exactly what we build.» – Lesia & Mykola, founders • Monde du Sauna Inc. • Mirabel, Québec

What is a barrel sauna?
A barrel sauna is an outdoor, cylindrical sauna built from natural wood – in our case, 100% Canadian western red cedar. The curved shape isn't just beautiful; it's functional. Heat circulates evenly from floor to ceiling, resulting in faster warm-up times, more consistent temperature, and lower energy use. Compared to a standard box sauna, a barrel heats up about twice as fast.

What are the health benefits?
Science confirms what Nordic cultures have known for millennia: the sauna is genuinely good for your body and mind.
Heart & circulation. Stepping into a sauna activates your cardiovascular system like moderate physical exercise — vessels dilate, heart rate rises. A 20-year Finnish study shows that 4–7 sessions per week significantly reduce the risk of heart attack, lower blood pressure, and reduce arterial stiffness.
Brain & memory. Regular sauna users have a significantly lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer's. Heat improves blood flow to the brain, reduces inflammation, and stimulates BDNF — the so-called 'brain fertilizer' that helps nerve cells survive and form new connections, especially in the memory center.
Mood & sleep. The sauna activates the same pathways as antidepressants (serotonin) and releases endorphins. The Japanese call this post-sauna state of deep calm totonou. In the evening, the body's gradual cooling after a session signals the brain to transition into deep sleep.
Immunity, lungs & pain. Immune cells increase in the blood. The bronchi dilate — beneficial for asthma and chronic lung conditions. Heat relieves joint stiffness linked to arthritis, fibromyalgia, and back pain. Want to go deeper? Read the full science in our blog.

What wood do you use?
We use 100% Canadian western red cedar – chosen deliberately. It is naturally resistant to moisture, rot, and insects, ideal for Quebec winters. Benches, floor, and walls: all cedar, inside and out. Not a cedar-pine mix like other manufacturers use. No protective coatings or chemical treatments. Built to last 20 years and more.
-
Can it handle a Quebec winter?
Not only it can – winter is when it shines its best. The barrel design sheds snow naturally. Western red cedar handles freeze-thaw cycles without warping or cracking. The sauna heats up faster than expected even at -25°C, and stepping out into the cold between rounds is the whole point. No winterizing, no covering, no moving anything indoors. Use it year-round.
-
Do I need a foundation?
No special foundation is required. You need a level surface — compacted gravel, stone masonry, wooden decking, or concrete pads under the base.

What heating options do you offer?
We offer two stove options, both from Harvia – one of Finland's most trusted sauna brands. Wood-fired stove – The traditional choice. There's nothing quite like the crackling of a wood fire, the smell of burning wood, and the ritual of feeding the stove before a session. No electricity required – ideal for cottages, off-grid properties, and anyone who wants the full Finnish experience. Electric stove – Harvia KIP 80B. The modern choice. Preheat your sauna from your phone before you leave work. Precise temperature control, consistent heat, and no wood to store or carry. Runs on 240V, 8kW – requires a dedicated 40-amp breaker on your electrical panel. Please note: Electric sauna stoves must be connected by a licensed electrician. This work is not included in your sauna installation — it is the client's responsibility to arrange and cover the cost of electrical connection. Most electricians complete this in 1 to 2 hours. We recommend booking your electrician at the same time as your sauna delivery so both can be done the same day. Not sure which one is right for you? Contact us for a free consultation.

How should you use the sauna correctly?
